Chamomile has an age old reputation of healing and soothing properties.Chamomile is made from the flowering tops of the Matricaria recutita. It is an effective remedy for a number of various ailments. In fact, chamomile is one of the world's most soothing herbs, helping to relieve anxiety and insomnia.Chamomile, used externally can treat skin disorders, sunburns, eye inflammation, stings, eczema and dry skin conditions.

The chamomile herb has 3 main properties: it is an anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, and anti-bacterial.

1. Anti-inflammatory: Chamomile soothes inflammation both inside and outside of the body. Externally, chamomile is used to treat mild burns, including sunburn, rashes, sores and even eye inflammation.
2. Anti-spasmodic: This property of chamomile is responsible for the muscle and nerve-relaxing powers of the herb. It is commonly used to treat anxiety disorders and insomnia, as well as muscle pain associated with menstrual cramps and muscle. It makes a great bedtime drink to induce sleep.
3. Anti-bacterial: Chamomile fights bacterial infections by destroying the very bacteria that cause them. By destroying the bacteria that cause infections, chamomile helps to speed up recovery time.There are no known side effects relating to the use of chamomile on skin, however when using a new product for the first time, it is always recommended to patch test a little of the product on the inside of the upper arm.
